He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Van Mechelen and Esther Thursack. He is survived by: his former wife Jacklyn Bruner; his wife Robin Van Mechelen of Bethesda; and his sons, Jonathan Van Mechelen of Royersford and Gregory Van Mechelen of Berkeley, California..
