He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred James Coates Lear and Rose-Marie Lear (Hunter). He is survived by: his wife Julia; his sons, Coates, Austin and Graham; and his sister Sandra Orton. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
A reception was held on Saturday, February 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Joseph Gawler's Sons (5130 Wisconsin Ave, Washington, DC 20016).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Friends of the Shenandoah River.
