She was predeceased by: her former husband Joseph Cummings; and her son-in-law Willy Buttner. She is survived by: her husband Ion Deaton; her children, Terry Cummings (Dave Hoerauf), Jim Cummings (Kim), Pat Cummings (Sue), Mike Cummings (Mary-Lou), Cathy Buttner, Tricia Thompson (Donnie) and Brian Cummings (Carrie); her stepchildren, Jo Deaton (Linda Kesselring), Ann Deaton (Judy), Kate Deaton (Greg), Tony Deaton (Teri) and Tim Deaton (Adrienne); and her sisters, Kitty Hoffer and Marg Hickey. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

“I did not have the joy of getting to know dear Loretta as well as I would have liked, due to the distance between us, but how I loved what I did know! At our family reunions her face was always full of welcoming warmth and a beautiful smile, and she made all us cousins feel loved. And when we spoke by phone whenever I called to chat with Ve, she was a joy to chat with too. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will be with you all and give you as much comfort as you can possibly feel.”
