He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Brooks and Blanche Brooks (Williams); his former wife Rosalie Brooks; his sons, Edward Brooks and Donald Brooks; and his grandson Keith Brooks.

He is survived by: his wife Ruth Brooks (Smith); his brother Charles Brooks (Kim); his children, Deborah Brooks and James Brooks (Shelly); his grandchildren, Cheryl Younger (Daniel) and Rayneshia Williams (Robert); and his great grandchildren, Mya Brooks, Mason Younger and Kylie Younger. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
