She was predeceased by: her husband Laszlo Urban; and her brother Robert Barth. She is survived by: her daughter Rebecca Grayson; her grandson Dominic Grayson; her brother Kelly Barth; her nephew Duncan Barth; and her niece Laura Stock.
Her research had been funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities, Ford Foundation, United States Institute of Peace, National Council for East European and Eurasian Research, and other institutions.
