He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Ethel Ellis Thomas and James Bruce Thomas, Sr.; his wife Sandra Lorretta Posey Thomas; and his siblings, James Bruce Thomas, Jr. and Jean Elizabeth Abell.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy Beach (Jen) of Waldorf, MD and Robert Thomas, Jr.; his grandchildren, Robert P. Thomas III, David W. Thomas, Brian J. Thomas and Molly A. Thomas; and his siblings, Andrew Dale Thomas and Margaret Ann Stauffer of Coltons Point, MD. He is also survived by eight great grandchildren.
