He was predeceased by: his parents, Winifred A. Fitzgerald and William Colbert Beatty. He is survived by: his son William Joseph Beatty, Jr. (Bill); his wife Jean; his children, James Beatty (Carol), Nancy Gregoire (Bruce) and Gail Davis (Emmett); his daughter-in-law Krista Beatty; his grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke, Erin (Andrew), Annemarie, Emmett (Taylor), Elise, Alexa, Shane, Jack, Brian and Brendan; and his brothers, Robert and John (Sue).
