She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Butler and Hattie Butler; her husband James McGowan, Sr.; her sons, Ernest Nutter and James McGowan, Jr.; her great grandchildren, Kewan Miller, Donnell Edmonds, Jr. and Shaun Crowdy; her daughter-in-law Patricia McGowan; and her siblings, John "Wes" Colbert, Charles Colbert, Thomas Butler, James Butler, Milton Butler, Joseph Butler and Gloria Simms.
She is survived by: her children, Gwendolyn Johnson (Vernon) of Glen Burnie, Patricia Smith (Lamont) of Glen Burnie, Wanda McGowan of Glen Burnie, Bruce Kaskins, Dwayne McGowan of Annapolis and Gerald McGowan of Glen Burnie; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Turner of Annapolis and Shirley McGowan of Annapolis; and her close friends, Charlene Watkins and Jean Dorsey. She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 80 great-grandchildren, 35 great-great-grandchildren; two very devoted close friends, Charlene Watkins and Jean Dorsey, lovingly known as “The Golden Girls,” and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
