He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Maxa and Elizabeth Maxa (Ebner); and his grandmother Josephine Kozel. He is survived by: his wife Janet Kozel; his children, Kimberly, Gregory John Pessagno (Holly) of Aberdeen, MD, Kristie Anne McComas (Kevin) of Fallston, MD and Lisa Marie Mangione (Nick) of Churchville, MD; his stepchildren, Monica Goeller, Mario Rossilli and Caesar Rossilli; his siblings, Joseph N. Kozel, Louis Maxa of Pasadena, MD and Betty Jane Hurline; his grandchildren, Nicholas Noel (Lauren), Shawn Pessagno, Alyssa Robison (Brad), Katey Miller, Marissa Mangione, Kristina and Megan McComas; and his great grandchildren, Theodore Wade Robison and Connor Francis Noel.
