He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard John and Lula Marie Jester (Hoericks). He is survived by: his wife Margaret Jester; his children, Carolyn Jester (Paul) and Steven Jester (Carrie); his granddaughter Kara Jester; and his pets, Shadow and Cora. He is also survived by his family, friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Maryland SPCA.
