He was predeceased by: his siblings, Grace T. Marlborough and Henry Melander; and his parents, Henry J. Melander and Hannah V. Melander (Haggerty). He is survived by: his sister Charlotte A. Swaney of Worcester; his nephew James Marlborough (Cindy Gough); and his brother James.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the Worcester Firefighter's Relief Association, 141 Grove Street, Worcester MA 01605.
