Eva Mary Ann (LeBlanc) Mears Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eva Mary Ann Mears (nee LeBlanc) on February 3, 2025, at UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, Massachusetts, at the age of 77. Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on August 15, 1947, Eva was the Daughter of the late Leon Joseph and Ida Mary LeBlanc (nee Hebert). Eva was a devoted Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt and friend. She is survived by her
husband Timothy O Mears, Daughters Paula M Hawkins (nee Gallant) (Bob) and Denise M Von Rosenvinge (nee Gallant) (Scott), Sons Leon J Mears and Jerry L Mears, devoted Sister Jane M Tarr (nee LeBlanc), and adopted brother Reggie D LeBlanc. Grandma to Evan Cosgrove, Ava Hawkins, Hailey Von Rosenvinge, Sebastian Von Rosenvinge, Joshua Mears, Sarah Mears and Chris Davidson and Great Grandma to Lukas Cosgrove, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Eva was predeceased by her Brother Stanley J LeBlanc
Eva and family moved from Saint John to Massachusetts in the early 1960’s at the age of 13. She enjoyed her teen years living in Fitchburg. After school, she married and had 2 daughters. In 1972, she remarried and, with family in tow, moved back to New Brunswick, where she set roots in Pocologan on the family farm. During this time, she had her two sons. In 1985, the family moved back to Fitchburg, Massachusetts, where she resided until her passing. Eva was always her Dad’s sidekick. She became his makeshift mechanic, helping tend the animals on the farm and
helping with the family’s towing company – she was a smart lady who could achieve anything she put her mind to. Eva loved music and loved to dance. She was the matriarch of the Mears Family Step Dancers (herself along with her children) and, as a member of the New Brunswick Arts Council preforming group, toured around various venues in Canada preforming. Along with step dancing, she loved tap dancing, ballroom dancing and the jitterbug. She was also an amazing seamstress and would spend hours creating the families many costumes.
She began her 28-year career in the printing industry, in 1985, working for RR Donley, Eucy Press and Quebecor Printing, where she eventually retired in 2013. Her many years of living in Massachusetts resulted in her unique and thick New England accent that everyone loved.
Eva was a tiny person with a huge personality, extremely funny and had a huge heart. She loved her family dearly and sacrificed for them at all costs. A firecracker at times but full of love and support with a big smile saying, “I can’t love you anymore, I can’t love you any less”. Eva loved to cook and had a terrible addiction for cookware. Her yearly Christmas visits to Canada were an exciting time – with her trademark feed of Popeye’s Chicken and many gifts to spoil everyone. She was a lover of animals and insisted on having a little dog to love in the house at all times. She was very close with her sister Jane – Best Friends to be exact. They loved their Bingo and getting out a couple times a week to try their luck while discussing life issues. Eva was an amazing woman. She was a beautiful person inside and out– a spitfire. She will be sadly missed by her family and by all who knew her.
As per Eva’s wishes, there will be no public service.
