He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Friel and Helen Friel (Shea). He is survived by: his wife Sheila A. Joyce; his children, Mary B. Daniel (James) of Worcester, David M. Friel (Marybeth) of Rochester, N. Y. and James E. Friel (Joanne Halverson) of Seatle Washington; his grandchildren, Melissa, Kristen, Robert, Cameron, Francesca, Erica, Garrett and Brett; his great grandchildren, Daemien, Lorelei, Ava and Rory; and his sisters, Helen Friel of Worcester and Patricia O'Connell (Bruce) of Worcester. He is also survived by Nieces, nephews.
In lieu of flowers remembrances in his name can be made to the Activities Fund, care of Dodge Park Rest home, Randolph Road Worcester.
