He was predeceased by: his parents, Vincent Rivela and Viola Rivela (Bucci); and his former wife Marylin Rivela (Corradino). He is survived by: his wife Sheila (Morgan); his sons, Jim Rivela (Jenn), Jenn, Steven Rivela (Erin Stewart) and Erin Stewart; his stepchildren, Christine Casale (Jim), Cathleen Curran (Stephen), Stephen and Joe Morgan (Kathleen); his brother Arnold Rivela (Nancy Jolivet); his nephew Matthew; his niece Jennifer Rivela; and his grandchildren, Katelyn, Steven (Cassie), Ryan, James, Joseph, Ceila, Emily (Cameron), Matthew, Thomas and Stephanie.
