He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Burnes and Ruth Burnes (Fowle); and his sister Barbara Boyle. He is survived by: his wife Barbara A. Budrow Burnes; his children, Donald L. Burnes (Gloria Moriarty-Burnes) and Susan E. Burnes of Maryland; his grandchildren, Boswell, Apollonia (Orel), Giovanni, Brazton Burnes, Davy and Juliana Bahan; his daughter Sue E. Burnes of Maryland; his son-in-law Ben Bahan; his brother Richard Burnes (Jan) of Bedford; and his great grandchild Luca.
