He was predeceased by: his parents, Copley E. Griffiths and Blanche Griffiths (Burroughs); and his sister Thelma Hazelton. He is survived by: his children, William T. "Bill" Griffiths Jr. (Peggy) of Winthrop, Gail A. Covelle (Fred) of Winthrop, Joe J. Griffiths (Susan) of Winthrop and Sue M. Donahue (Neil) of Tewksbury; his grandchildren, Jennifer Dykens, Michael Griffiths, Samantha Covelle, Greg Covelle, Alexandra Rhoads, Matthew Donahue, Brian Donahue, Jeffrey Donahue, Jordan Griffiths, Jonathan Griffiths, Kelsie Griffiths and Kirsten Griffiths; his great grandchildren, Jackson, Camden Dykens, Olivia Donahue and Corey Covelle; and his sister Judy MacLaughlin of Boxford.
