He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Robert M. Gillis and Irene M. DiGiovanni (Trainor); his daughter Victoria A. Gillis of Revere; and his siblings, Owen Gillis, Jimmy Gillis (Doreen) of Winthrop, Ginny Gillis (Tom Soucy) of Chelmsford, John Gillis (Mary) of Winthrop, Kathy Gillis-Magee (Justin) of Winthrop, Mary Gillis (Bobby McCarthy) of Winthrop and Kelly Gentzler (Scott) of Revere. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made payable to the American Legion-Post 146, (memo for Military Care Support) C/O Richard Honan 92 Johnson Ave. Winthrop, MA. 02152.
