Joseph P Mirabile Obituary
Joseph P. Mirabile of Yarmouth Port, MA, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023. He was the son of Nicolo and Francesca Mirabile and pre-deceased by his sister, Rose, and brothers, Nicolo and Anthony. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Anita, and his four children, son Joseph, wife Barbara-Jean, children Joseph, Thomas, and Katherine; son Nicholas, wife Diane, children, Dillon and Tara; daughter Elizabeth Griminger, husband Andrew, children Paul Joseph, Michael and Bridget; son Mark, wife Catherine, children Mia, Cecilia and Grace. He was also a proud uncle to many nephews and nieces.
Joe was an active alumnus of the great Boston College Class of 1957, who, along with his wife, traveled extensively with classmates on vacations to Bermuda, the Caribbean and several European countries. Whether for business or pleasure, he visited China, the Middle East, northern Africa, and most of Europe including Anita’s ancestral home in Ireland. He especially enjoyed trips with his children and grandchildren to visit the birthplace of his parents and grandparents in Italy and Sicily.
Joe served proudly as an officer in the U.S. Navy for five years Active and 20 years as a Reservist. He received a commission as an Ensign upon graduation from OCS in Newport in 1957 and returned there as an instructor in 1962 after he and Anita were married. After his naval service, Joe had a distinguished 30-year career with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
Joe enjoyed golf at the Kings Way Golf Club. He volunteered at the Yarmouthport Food Pantry and enjoyed membership with friends in the Cape Cod Genealogy Club of America. Through the years, Joe enjoyed planting his tomatoes, tennis, sailing, military history, biographies, making wine and collecting antique clocks. He was a member of the Yarmouth Republican Town Committee and in 2018, Joe was a delegate to GOP Convention in Worcester, MA. He was a member of the Boston College Club of Cape Cod and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of the Cape Parish in Brewster.
Friends are invited to call at the Lanes Funeral Home, Main Street, Winchester, MA on April 28, 2023 from 4:00pm – 7:00pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on April 29th at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at the Wildwood Cemetery in Winchester, MA. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to CURE SMA via donate-curesma.donordrive.com.
