With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Robert Joseph Sumner Sr. of Williamstown, Massachusetts, born in Cheshire, Massachusetts, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 9, 2024 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Robert Joseph may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Robert Joseph touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Franklin Sumner and Irene Sumner (Racine); and his sons, Robert J. Sumner Jr., Gary Sumner and Richard Sumner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Rose Sumner-Stokes of Kingsbury, NY, Bernadette Burdick of Florida, MA, Michele Wojnicki, Katherine Tetreault of Adams, MA, Brenda Brewington of Michigan and Laurie Brewer of North Adams; and his grandson Edward Sumner of Wichita, KS.. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
