She was predeceased by: her parents, Margaret Thompson (Lytle) and William Thompson. She is survived by: her children, Sarah Witte, Richard Spurgin, Margaret Barnes and William Spurgin. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She also completed the Chicago Architecture Foundation's docent training program, and gave the Loop and other architectural walking tours.
