Rolland G. Daigneault Obituary
Rolland G. Daigneault, 92, died peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2022, at home. Born in Holyoke to the late Lucien and Jeanne (Debien) Daigneault, he served proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War. A graduate of Northeastern University, he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for Hamilton Standard for 33 years until his retirement. Rolland enjoyed life to its fullest. Growing up in Chicopee, he and his brother Ernie, were inseparable. They were in the same class at Chicopee High, graduating in 1947.
They developed life-long friendships from their high school days. Rolland had a multitude of interests including bicycling, hiking, skiing, kayaking and golfing. Rolland and his son, Paul, especially enjoyed hiking trips together with the Grand Canyon being the highlight. He also enjoyed watching the Patriots play with Paul, and his grandsons. He had a passion for making wine and was very devoted to his family. Our very best times were spent around the dinner table, telling stories and laughing. Rolland loved to eat and Josephine loved to cook.
It was a perfect match! He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Josephine (Megliola) Daigneault, their daughters; Linda Daigneault of Wilbraham and Karen Daigneault of Springfield, brother Ernest Daigneault and his wife Claire of Houston, TX, his brother and sisters in law; Louis and Patricia Megliola, Philomena Novitt and Ellen Rose, his daughter in law Ann Daigneault, five devoted grandchildren; Laura, Bradley, Mark and his wife Jennifer, John and his wife Hannah and Nathan and three cherished great grandchildren; Jonathan, Emily and Rhylen and many nieces and nephews.
