He was predeceased by: his parents, John Safford and Ruth Safford (Gee); his wife Merle Safford (Woodard); his daughter Deana Wilson (Bean); and his sons-in-law, Chester Kowal and Mark Mercier.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ronna Kowal of Port Orchard, WA and Melanie Mercier (Richard Lewenczuk) of Ledyard, CT; his grandchildren, David Bean (Josie) of Shelton, WA, Dana Bean (Judi) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Matthew Bean (Heather) of Hampden, MA, Richelle Mercier (Bill Barnes) of Daytona Beach, FL and Kristina Mercier (Bill Griswold) of Monson, MA.; and his great grandchildren, Kyle, Cassidy Bean, Aidan, Dylan Bean and Mira Mercier. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
