He was predeceased by: his wife Patricia; his parents, Josef G. Sturm and Anna F. Sturm; and his son Mark. He is survived by: his children, Cynthia Menard (Steven) and Steven Sturm (Kathleen); his grandchildren, Mark, William Menard, Brent (Katie) and Kristin Sturm; his sister Brunhild Fritz; and his sister-in-law Kathy Potter.
