He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Farrell and Richard Farrell; his former wife Carol; his parents-in-law, Elayne and William Lees; his nephew Daniel Farrell; and his sister-in-law Carol Farrell.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Farrell; his children, Brian Farrell (Elizabeth) of Colorado Springs, CO, Melissa Griswold (Robert) of Westhampton and Dr. Timothy Farrell (Julia) of Sandy, UT.; his grandchildren, Allison Griswold, Cate Farrell, Andrew, Leah Farrell and Bapa; his siblings, Lolly Templeton (Jeff), Will Farrell (Sandy) of Ludlow, Anne Ouimet (Jack) of Hatfield, Katie Ross (Jim) of Whately and Martha Goodridge (Skip) of Whately; his brother-in-law Jon Lees (Martha) of Westhampton; his pet Murray Griswold; his caregivers, Erin and Christine; and his granddaughter Hannah Griswold. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After receiving this award, he flew for another eight years, finally retiring at age 78 when the COVID-19 pandemic slowed down aviation worldwide, particularly in the private sector.
One of his proudest professional accomplishments was receiving the Federal Aviation Administration's Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award in recognition of his "contributions to building and maintaining the safest aviation system in the world, through practicing and promoting safe aircraft flight operations for 50 consecutive years.".
