He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Dowd and Mary Dowd (Dowling); his wife Elizabeth W. "Sally" Dowd; his brothers, John V. Dowd and Patrick H. Dowd; and his nephews, Thomas Dowd, Michael Dowd, Michael Weinle and John N. Weinle III (Phyllis Weinle).
He is survived by: his sister Juneann Landers of West Springfield; his nieces and nephews, Brendan Landers (Lili Newman), Colm Landers (Shannon), Eileen Odabashian (David), Daniel Dowd and Mary Dowd; his grandchildren, Ann Marie Liptak (Christopher), Matthew Dowd, Elizabeth Bitzas (James), Patricia Pflugi (Matthew) and Nancy Collina (Bruce); his sister-in-law Peggy Dowd; and his close friend Charlotte Liptak.
