He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Furey and Agnes Litchfield Furey; and his children, Sean and Megan. He is survived by: his grandson Aiden; his wife Jane McDermott; his sons, Kevin (Megan) and Aiden; his brother Joseph (Cynthia); his aunt Elizabeth Kirby; and his uncles, Robert and Tom Kirby (Marian). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
