He was predeceased by: his spouse Lillian Swift (Lane); his parent Ralph Swift; and his sibling Richard Swift. He is survived by: his parent Marion Swift (Millett); his children, Edward R. "Ted" Swift (Lisa) of Melrose and Eleanor J. Finlayson (Mark) of Nashua, NH.; his grandchildren, Ariana Caparella-Swift, Mia Swift, Spencer Finlayson and Elizabeth Finlayson; and his siblings, David Swift of Halifax and Claire Foulsham of Hanover. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
