He was predeceased by: his parents, William Ellis and Ada Ellis; his significant other Patricia Ellis (Dennis); and his siblings, George Ellis, Elizabeth McNerny and Marilyn Breor.
He is survived by: his sons, William R. Ellis Jr. (Donna Ellis) of Westfield and Jeffrey Ellis of Agawam; his grandchildren, Erika Ellis and Derek Ellis (Chelsea); his great grandchild Riley; and his sisters, Barbara Schniekart, Patricia Cianci and Deborah Battone.
