He was predeceased by: his son William Hanafin (Arlene); and his siblings, Connie Hanafin (Rachel), Jack Hanafin (Shirley), Charlie Hanafin (Rose), Gige Hanafin and Jim Hanafin.
He is survived by: his wife Mary M. Hanafin (Kelley); his children, Mary Hourihan (Paul) of West Roxbury, Kathleen Hanafin of West Roxbury, Thomas Hanafin of Roslindale, Eric Hanafin (Heather) of Pembroke, Joseph Hanafin and Patricia Hanafin; and his sisters, Helen Dignan (late Donal) and Kitty Provost (Larry). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home (2000 Centre St, West Roxbury, MA 02132). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, January 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Mission Church) (1545 Tremont St, Boston, MA 02120).
