He was predeceased by: his wife Mary O'Leary (Gibbons); and his siblings, John, Maureen, Daniel O'Leary of Co and Cork.

He is survived by: his children, Patrick O'Leary (Robin) of Medfield, Michael O'Leary (Maisie) of West Roxbury, Mary McEachern (Scott) of Dedham and Sheila Johnston (Gene) of Roslindale; and his grandchildren, Fiona, Celia, Patrick, Sean, John, Blake and Danny.
