She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Francesco Pettinato and Angelina Pettinato; and her children, Kathleen Germak (John) of Scituate, Barcie Waite of Santa Fe, Hal Waite (Jeanne) of Ojai, Daniel Waite of Jacksonville and Michael Waite (Roger) of Los Angeles, California..

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Ernestine's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Parkinson's Foundation.

“Mike, Barcie, Kathie, Hal and Danny. Your mom holds a special place in my heart from my childhood as my mom's friend and your parent. I have fond memories of coming to your house with my mom and hanging out around the dining table. I was very saddened to hear of her death but glad to know she died peacefully and was able to have good care at the end of her life. She was quite a woman, she lived life on her own terms, may she rest in peace. Jackie Wilson”
