He was predeceased by: his spouse Hrisomali Kataftos (Dritsas); his child Achilles Kataftos (late Catherine); and his sibling Demetrios Kataftos. He is survived by: his children, Peter G. Kataftos (Martha) and Chrysanthi Michaelidis (Alexandros); his grandchildren, Katrina, George Kataftos, Anna, Nikolaos and Matheos Michaelidis; his siblings-in-law, Kouzinia Kataftou and Helen Frantzeskakis; and also, Achilles Kataftos (Caliope) and Dimitri Kataftos. He is also survived by many relatives and friends.
