He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Coates and Ruth Coates (Scanell) of North Andover. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann (Curtis); his children, Jeffrey Coates (Jamie Karlson) and Susan Grinsell (Stephen); his grandchildren, Jared, Joseph, Andrew, Alex, James, Jenny and Ben; his great grandchildren, Maggie, Jack, Charles and William; his siblings, Paula Cahow of Londonderry, N. H., Doug Coates of Whately, MA and Stephen Coates of Georgetown, MA; and his sister-in-law Susan Kramer (Bren) of Baton Rouge, LA.. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
