He was predeceased by: his parents, Irving Dessner and May Dessner (Colb); his wife Shirley Ann Dessner (Gross); his son Craig Dessner; and his brother Burton Dessner.

He is survived by: his daughter Deborah José of Waltham; his grandchildren, Paul José (Mary) of Pueblo, Phillip José (Taryn Hye) of Des Moines, Annie José of Boston and Amanda Lovejoy (Brandon) of Willowick, Ohio; and his great grandchildren, Hazel, Piper José, Sophia, Brandon, Jr. and Lovejoy. He is also survived by nieces, many precious cousins.
