He was predeceased by: his sister Maureen Shanahan; and his parents, Arthur Leary and Helen Leary (Driscoll). He is survived by: his wife Cynthia F. Leary (Conley); and his siblings, Timothy Leary of Winthrop, Brian Leary of Boston, Christopher Leary of Winthrop and Tricia Canario of Melrose. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 29th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Kraw-Kornack Funeral Home (1248 Washington St, Norwood, MA 02062). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:55 AM at the Saint Catherine of Siena Church (547 Washington St, Norwood, MA 02062).
