He was predeceased by: his brother James. He is survived by: his wife Susan Carey Clough; his sons, Daniel (Lu Yao) of Formia, Italy and Nicholas of Turners Falls; his grandsons, Kai and Ian; his siblings, Bette Allen (Doug), Nancy Cavanaugh (Bob), Mary Ellen March (Doug), Tim Clough (Jill), Tom Clough and Bill Clough (Sarah); his friend John; and his caregivers, Sue, Jen and Cassidy. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, John asked that you "buy yourself a good beer, drink it fresh and enjoy".
