He was predeceased by: his sister Josephine; and his parents, Robert E. Smith, Sr. and Florence Smith (Hayward). He is survived by: his wife Betty Smith; his children, Polly Franconeri (Jason Franconeri) and Robert E. Smith III (Andrea Smith); and his siblings, Sheila of Charles, DJ and Douglas. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to Palmer Ambulance Service, PO Box 676, Palmer, MA 01069.
