He was predeceased by: his parents, John Metcalf and Beatrice Metcalf (Sieswerda); his wife Laura Ann (Wiren); his son Dale Metcalf; and his siblings, Guy Metcalf, Sylvia Blatt and Dora LaPerle.
He is survived by: his children, Philip J. Metcalf, Jr. (Marie) of Dudley and Sandra MacAlister of Gardner; and his sister Barbara Safford. He is also survived by his eleven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Down Syndrome Association.
