He is survived by: his spouse Maria Filomena Soares (Tavares); his daughters, Fatima Avelar (Pedro) of Taunton and Susan Cookson of Taunton; and his brothers, Joseph Soares of Taunton, Luis Soares of Fall River and Mario Soares of Sao Miguel, Acores. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
