He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Joseph Mendes and Theresa Mendes (Demers); his wife Marguerite Mendes (Courcy); his children, Jason Mendes and Katherine Burgess; his grandchildren, Brian, Kyla and Brady Burgess; his sisters, Linda Mendes, Pamela Johnson (Chris) and Ann Silvia (Michael); and also Brian Burgess. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
