He was predeceased by: his parents, Jose Lima Paiva and Natalia Batista. He is survived by: his wife Ana Paiva (Gomes); his pet Murphy; his daughters, Christine Paiva of Fall River and Stephanie Paiva of East Providence; and his siblings, Dinis Paiva of East Providence, Luis Paiva of Portugal, Antonio Paiva of Somerset and Maria Conceicao Athanassiou of Wilmington, MA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
