Karen L. Sorkin Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Karen L. Sorkin (Swampscott, Massachusetts), who passed away on January 23, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Karen may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lillian Woldman (Philip Woldman) and Philip Woldman; and her brother Joel. She is survived by: her son Andrew Sorkin; her husband Ken; her daughter Julie Sorkin-Maguire; her brother Murray Woldman of Alexandria, VA; her son-in-law Conor Maguire; and her grandchildren, Claire and Simon Maguire of Beverly, MA.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Congregation Shirat Hayam (55 Atlantic Ave, Swampscott, MA 01907).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA, http://www.caredimensions.org or the Massachusetts General Hospital Pappas Center for Neuro-Oncology http://www.massgeneral.org , both of which provided Karen and her family with compassionate care during her final days.
