Joseph F. Marino Jr. Obituary
Joseph F. Marino, Jr., age 82, a lifelong resident of Swampscott, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 20th, surrounded by his loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. Marino, Sr. and Wanda (Grenowich) Marino and his son, Joseph F. Marino III. Joe was a graduate of Swampscott High School, class of 1959.
A landscape gardener, Joe was a 3rd generation owner of Marino's Landscaping. As a local business owner, he had strong ties to his community. He was also a member of the Swampscott Italian Club and the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed playing cards and was a competitive poker player for several years. He loved golfing, skiing, snowmobiling and traveling. He enjoyed a good meal and loved to watch Westerns and always had a great story to tell. His greatest joy came from the time spent with his family and friends.
Joe was the former husband of Joyce "Toni" (DeVito) Hicks and Janet Hammonds, and the longtime partner of Christine Montemarano. He is also survived by his children; Tammy Kelly and her husband Gene Kelly, Sr., Deana Wyse, Scott Marino and his late longtime partner Denise Rondinelli, Dawn Spratt and her husband Bill; his step-son, Eric Langley; his grandchildren; Gene, Jr., Nicholas, Alyssa, Conor, Jeremy, Allison, Amy, Andrew, Gianna, Eric and Elizabeth; as well as six great-grandchildren; his brother, Paul Rhuda and his wife Pinky; and his constant companion, his dog Lady.
His visiting hours will be held on Wednesday September 27, 2023 from 11AM-2PM at the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 67 Ocean St (Rt 1A), Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial in Swampscott Cemetery will be private. Those who prefer may make donations to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St, Danvers, MA 01923.
