She was predeceased by: her spouse Wallace Bates, Sr.; her parent Louis Matherson; and her sibling Eddie Matherson. She is survived by: her parent Nellie Matherson (Coletti); her daughters, Linda Shimer (Kevin) of Groveland and Wallace Bates, Jr.; her wife Robin of Peabody; her siblings, Donna Goodwin (Lee) of Swampscott, David Matherson (Mary Ann) of Swampscott and Robert Matherson; and also, Sue White (Bill) of Newburyport and Eric Bates (Michelle) of Beverly Hills. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
