He is survived by: his former wife Svea Johnson; his children, Michael Holland of Alexandria, VA, Anne Holland of Providence, RI, Molly Holland of Middletown, RI and Rachel Holland of Newbury, MA; his stepchild Tom Johnson of Concord, MA; and his children, Kira Contino of Spilamberto, Neven Contino of Spilamberto, Lisa Johnson Contino of Spilamberto, Lucas and Sofia.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Rays memory may be made to the Nature Conservancy.
