He was predeceased by: his wives, Marie M. Lonergan (LaCorti) and Mildred Lonergan (Kelleher); and his siblings, Joseph, Leo, James "Buddy" Lonergan, Mary Margaret Nelson, Patricia Hammond, Helen Gallant, Frances Ritchie, Mildred Doucette and Pauline Salvesen.
He is survived by: his children, Catherine Clinton (Philip), Roland "Paul" Lonergan (Tonette), Michael Lonergan (Dorothy), Nancy Lonergan (Marion "Peg" Lord) of Avon, James Lonergan of Whitman and Susan Keller of Stoughton; and his sister Barbara Jackson. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
