He was predeceased by: his parents, John P. Hines and Julia F. Hines (Knox); and his brother Paul Hines. He is survived by: his wife Wendy J. Hines (Bishop); his children, Michael S. Hines of Stoughton and Lindsey B. Murphy (James) of Norton; his grandchildren, Mackenzie Hines, Paxton Murphy and Charlotte Murphy; and his siblings, Peter Hines of Stoughton and Ellen Marinakis of Foxboro. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
