He is survived by: his wife Eulalia M. Rodrigues; and his children, Fernanda M. Rodrigues of Stoughton, John S. Rodrigues of Stoughton and David S. Rodrigues of Attleboro. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Per Joao's wishes, his body was donated to the Harvard Medical School in Boston.
