He was predeceased by: his wife Ellen M. O'Brien (Murray); and his sister Rose Carriuolo. He is survived by: his children, Kathleen O'Brien, Ann E. Macrina (James), Edward F. "Bucky" O'Brien, III (Sandra), Maryrose Heffner (Thomas), John M. O'Brien (Elaine) of Avon and Colleen F. Tyer (Steven) of Stoughton; and his grandchildren, Jamie (Jamie Paris), Jeffrey Paris, Matthew, Mark (Aom Macrina), Nick (Claire Macrina), Julieann Macrina, Edward F. O'Brien IV, Meghan (Zach), Jonathan O'Brien, Larry, Tanya, Christin Jenkins, Sean Dillon (Shelby), TJ Heffner, Andrew, Trevor O'Brien, Margaret (Trevor) and James Tyer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Farley Funeral Home (358 Park St, Stoughton, MA 02072). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A Mass was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. James Church (560 Page St, Stoughton, MA 02072). A burial was held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
Due to floral limitations at the cemetery, Ed's family has asked that donations in his memory may be made to the Copley at Stoughton Resident Activities Fund, 380 Sumner St., Stoughton, MA 02072.
