She was predeceased by: her parents, Raleigh Phillips and Beatrice Phillips; and her siblings, Abrom Phillips of Springfield, Massachusetts, Raleigh Phillips, Berry Phillips of Newark and Flossie Pelham (Phillips) of Newark.

She is survived by: her son James Phillips Lester; and her siblings, Irene Whitley (Lawrence) of Washington, D. C., Thelma of Washington, Clarene Powell of Richmond, Virginia and Earle Phillips, Sr. (Marsha) of Plymouth, Minnesota.. She is also survived by her son, brother, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
